Profile -- Elena Oliviera A woman of Hispanic decent, Elena has no great attractiveness. She is slightly taller than most women and sports the dark features of her ethnicity. She is clearly very fit as befits her career as a martial arts instructor. She is a very young woman considering her position as a small business owner, only twenty-three. Elena runs her martial arts school, Fuertas, from a location in the lower east side. She trains approximately 80 women in conjunction with one other instructor. Her school is only open to women, most of whom seem to be relatively poor. Elena's low fees combined with her willingness to take non-paying students means her school is constantly hovering on the brink of bankruptcy. However, her recent alliance with Clifford de Calais of the Brujah, who like Elena is a childe of Julia, has aided her somewhat, as he seems to be providing her with free space for a second location in Elmhurst. As might be expected from a woman who has adopted such an unsuitable profession, Elena has had a troubled past. Her mother died when she was quite young and her father was not attentive. She had to shoulder the burden of the housework while still attending school. Police records indicate that she ran afoul of one of the local street gangs on several occasions. She was admitted to the hospital four times between the ages of 12 and 14, three times with evidence of sexual assault and once with multiple broken bones. It is uncertain how she met her martial arts instructor, a Yoshitomo Nara, but she definitely began her training at age 14. Both police and hospital documents show no further record of her after her training began. Elena teaches defenses against attackers wielding guns and knives, as well as against unarmed attackers. She focuses on practical defense skills, including how to fight wearing high heels. Many of her classes focus on developing the will to fight rather than any particular technique. Elena is known to be proficient in several hand-to-hand fighting techniques. She has been observed training with many weapons, ranging from swords to clubs and batons. Elena maintains a very close relationship with her students and is very protective of them. A recent spate of incidents of violence against her students has greatly upset Elena. As might be expected of a Brujah, she nearly frenzied in public and was only stopped by Clifford. Because of her commitment to the school she has few friends.
