Diary: 9.14.2000
A great excitement today.
It seems that Thomas's great project has finally come to fruition!
He has learned of a plot among the vampires,
a plot to retake the greatest city of the new world.
He took me aside, brought me into his office to tell the tale.
Of details there were many and I confess an inability to fully remember them all.
He wishes to dispatch someone to New York City to observe this event,
as it may be the most singular of the past fifty, nay, one hundred years.
He will tell the others soon, of course, but he wished to ask my advice
as to whom should be dispatched. Reginald is the obvious choice.
His youth makes him most suitable, and the adventure will satisfy his ardent nature.
However, there is the matter of his inexperience, and the unfinished business in Morocco.
Lucian might also be an excellent choice, his brashness tempered by years.
But, I confessed to Thomas, his selfishness would imperil his objective eye.
His fancy for the beasts of tooth and claw rather than the ancients would cause his
attention to wander. Thankfully Thomas agreed, though it left us both at a loss
as to whom would go. Perhaps we could find another from a different Library.
But could he be trusted? If we were truly desperate, one of the girls could go to place the sigils and the wards.
Even the Old Ways, though, lose their power over the miles. No, no, it must be one of us. But whom?
