Activity Log, March 8, 2001

After the tumultuous events in the Nosferatu warrens the subjects spent the night at Angel's haven. Over the next few days they made no attempt to discuss what they had learned or in anyway coordinate their actions. Unfortunately I have grown to expect little else. Perhaps if they talked to each other, or better yet shared their information with Cliff, they might learn something useful from their adventure.

Events seemed a bit more promising when, a few days later, Ethan was contacted by one of his associates in Corona, a gentleman by the name of "Z." "Z" informed Ethan that there was some problem in his "hood," as the colloquialism goes. Despite the likely condition of his drug-addled brain, the gang leader seemed to have reason to believe the rival gang Ethan had spoken of before, the Giovanni, was attempting to trouble him and his friends. Ethan, fortunately, realized he would be unable to handle the Giovanni alone. Calling Parker, he discovered Hannah present, and so dragged them both into this fiasco; Cliff was also asked to come, as "Z" had mentioned his friend was injured.

They all quickly arrived in Corona, meeting at the liquor store of the gentleman named Brick. Brick is, of course, a known agent of the Setites, a fact that the subjects commented on several times over the course of the evening but failed to do anything about. It seems likely that the Setites have some form of surveillance on their agents, and I am certain the Setites have been fascinated by the subjects' recent activities.

The injured man was lying on the ground in the back of the store. It seems that this associate of "Z"'s had been vivisected while still alive. He was disemboweled and had his mouth pinched closed, sealing his lips together - fascinating but quite grotesque. Cliff attended him quickly, cutting his mouth open to feed him blood as soon as he had cleared the room of onlookers. This, interestingly enough, seemed to have little effect on the wound, and Cliff had to sew it up by conventional means. Cliff was as interested as I was at this medical phenomenon. The patient should have died midway through the vivisection, but he seemed alive and in fair health, if in a state of shock. Cliff shows some promise over the others in investigating to the best of his meager abilities.

While Cliff was engaged in his medical matters, Parker, Ethan and Hannah attempted to find who had done this. They quickly discarded the idea that the Giovanni were involved and concluded that this was the work of a Tzimisce. It seems they are not utterly devoid of intelligence and that they may perceive the obvious when it is held directly in front of them. Using a combination of their heightened senses, ability to communicate with animals, and persuasive abilities they tracked a red and gray Buick north, into Jackson Heights. The car seemed to be carrying their blond-haired antagonist from their first encounter with the Sabbat in their feeding grounds.

They arrived at a small local church perhaps an hour behind the Sabbat. Upon investigation of the car Hannah and Parker found that the car had held someone, bound, in the trunk for some time before it had stopped outside the church. Ethan and Hannah heard singing coming from behind the church and the three of climbed a fire escape to find a perch on top of the church over looking a cemetery area bounded by buildings.

I'm certain it will be obvious what the Sabbat were in the process of doing, given the cemetery, at least to any astute reader. The subjects, naturally, had no idea, though I am most fortunate that they have given me another piece of data for my study of the Sabbat Embrace. They observed ten Sabbat, lead by a black-haired woman who was later referred to as Jadviga. She seemed to be leading the pack in a chant of some sort. She gave control of the meeting over to a man who was obviously a Tzimisce, with distorted and scarified flesh, wearing black robes, who read to the group from an old tome that proved to be a poor translation of a part of the Book of Nod. He read the tale of Caine's Creation of the Three for approximately ten minutes before the subjects disrupted events by opening fire.

Perhaps I should explain. The subjects had contacted Cliff (by what means I am not certain, definitely technological) and asked him to come to the church with "Z" and as many of his friends as possible. While they waited the subjects took up firing positions, Hannah and Ethan in an alley leading to the cemetery and Parker in a sniping position on the church. When Cliff, "Z", and a number of gang members arrived, they were directed to the alley as well. At a signal the gang members charged into the cemetery grounds while Ethan and Parker opened fire.

A charge against gunfire, for the Sabbat were, unsurprisingly heavily armed, is a most difficult maneuver. While a well trained British youth can carry off such a thing, the undesirables lead by "Z" lacked elan. To their credit they did not break, but they failed to advance against the weight of fire and failed to return fire in sufficient volume. They were quickly cut down. However, they served their likely intended purpose of distracting the Sabbat from the true threat of the subjects' ambush.

Parker focused his fire upon the blonde woman, likely out of spite, and a well placed shot blew off a fair portion of her head. Ethan fired upon the Tzimisce leader who grew to quite immense proportions, assuming the battle-form of that brood. The remainder of the Sabbat focused on the charging gang members, meeting them with a combination of gun fire and shadow crafting. Parker's firing was noticed by the Tzimisce leader who went to deal with the situation. Parker and Ethan left the safety of their roof top perches to meet the Tzimisce on equal ground. How foolish.

At this point the crowd in front of her cleared sufficiently for Hannah to break free and engage the Sabbat at close range. She proved quite successful with her shotgun, taking down one Sabbat before another engaged her hand to hand. Ethan and Parker engaged the Tzimisce, who proved quite resistant to Ethan's bullets but had no defense against Parker's claws. Cliff occupied himself with rescuing the fallen gang members.

Ethan left Parker to fend for himself and went to aid Hannah who was dealing with two Sabbat at this point, as the majority of the Sabbat seemed to only want to flee. This was, perhaps, unwise. Parker was quickly overpowered by the Sabbat leader and was at his mercy, when gentle Cliff literally beheaded the monster with his teeth. I see that his blood is all too quickly overcoming his more human instincts: I only hope he will last more than a few months, as I have little hope of finding another subject so well-placed.

After dealing with the last few stragglers, the group tended to the wounded and began to investigate the graves. Unsurprisingly they found five of the graves occupied with newly formed vampires. They staked these vampires with little difficulty and, with the sirens closing in, fled the scene.

At Cliff's suggestion, they took their prizes to Julia. She met them at a warehouse in Brooklyn and seemed quite grateful to them. She informed them that these Sabbat would likely have to be killed by Jan, a sensible enough precaution, but one that angered the subjects greatly. Julia proceeded to tell them that she would do what she could, but both she and Jan were bound by the law. She argued that, while they might not view Camarilla law as fair, things were far better in modern times than they were before the Camarilla. This is certainly an indication that Julia is of great age, which is unsurprising given her abilities. Hannah seemed unimpressed by this speech and left in a huff. Quite childish I must say. The others thanked Julia, who said that she would see what reward could be procured for them. With that she bid them farewell.
